Recent
studies suggest that men might
have been correct all this time! Women can
be satisfied in bed in a short time! The study carried out by
sex therapists have revealed that the optimum length of sexual
intercourse is from 3 to 13 minutes. This discovery was
published in the Journal
of Sexual Medicine. So these results are now conflicting
with the traditional ideas that longer intercourse lead to a
great sex
life. But don’t get too excited yet, because this time
limit does not include prelude. And these therapists have
labeled sexual intercourse lasting for a minute or too as “too
short”.
One of the researchers Eric Corty has stated that he hopes
people won’t think anymore that lasting forever is the way to
satisfy the partner.
Corty also said that the questions in the survey were not gender
specific and that both men and women had previously expressed
wanting longer foreplay and sexual intercourse.
The editor of the Journal
of Sexual Medicine, Dr. Irwin Goldstein referred to a
survey of 1,500couples back
in 2005 where the results indicated 7.3 minutes is the median
time for sexual intercourse.
Marianne Brandon, a clinical psychologist and director of
Wellminds Wellbodies in Annapolis, has stated
that it is hard for young and older men to have longer sexual
intercourse.
Brandon further said that there are many myths in our culture
regarding what other people do sexually. Contrary to popular
belief, most people do not have as exciting a sex life
as others think they have.
Corty, who is an associate professor of psychology at Penn State
Erie, and student Jenay Guardiani surveyed fifty members of the
Society for Sex Therapy and Research in the United States and
Canada. 68% responded while others said that the right amount of
time depends on the couple.
Corty further said that this survey was done to give us a
general idea of what therapists think as suitable among the
couples that they see. So people who say that their partner
lasts 5 minutes of 8 minutes will now say that it is okay. These
people can now relax.
