Youth offers a lot. Energy. Laughter. Vitality. Activity.
Invincibility. Our bodies are growing at a rapid rate up until
we become adults so we can get away with a lot when we’re young.
We ate whatever, didn’t think about what it was, and our bodies
efficiently dealt with the process of turning the materials into
fuel, or sending it to the ‘trash’.
Growing doesn’t stop even after we become adults, however.
Our bodies are constantly creating new cells and building new
tissues. The body creates itself from one single cell,
sourced from the food we eat.
-
The skin regenerates every 7 days
-
Every cell in our skeleton is replaced every 7 years
-
Stomach cells replace themselves every 5 days
-
Red blood cells live for about 4 months
-
Liver cells regenerate every 5 days or so
-
Intestinal tract cells last for roughly 15 years
Does this mean you get a clean slate or fresh start every few
years? NO! In fact, it’s the opposite in most cases. Our body
cannot constantly create itself without food. The foods we eat
are the
building blocks necessary for our body to grow.
Whatever you are feeding yourself now, will be used to build
your muscles, organs, bones, skin and more. So if you are
feeding yourself nutrient void “food stuffs”, or food that our
bodies can’t assimilate, you are creating a house for disease
down the road. It’s like planting crap, and expecting to grow a
tree. If you are feeding yourself fresh fruit and vegetables,
seeds, nuts, and other whole healthy foods, you are creating a
castle for vibrant health and wellbeing.
As we age, this cellular regeneration slows down. And there is
almost
no turnover for the heart and brain so it’s important
to treat them with care! This is why it’s so important to not
only make good choices, but to make sure our bodies are
efficiently digesting the food we take in so we can use the
materials to build healthy tissues.
Does this sound like you?
You consume a burger, fries, and a soda (or some similar meal)
and shortly thereafter experience some unpleasant side effects
(bloating, belching,
indigestion,
heartburn). Then you say to yourself “Man, I used to be able to
eat this no problem!” Then you might reach for the tums, pepsid,
or pepto… only to repeat the scenario.
Antacids are the #1 over the counter medicine sold in the US.
When we’re young, our bodies are still full of all the active
players in digestion. But by the time we’re 30-40 years old, we
use up all we’ve got when we eat predominantly cooked,
non-nutritious foods. Or we actually deplete our bodies of
nutrients because we eat incomplete foods like sugar and alcohol
that can’t be metabolized, so our body
pulls minerals out of our cells to metabolize them.
What happens if you don’t have enough nutrient reserves in your
cells from a healthy diet and you eat a high sugar diet?
Disease.
Digestive problems are the leading cause of hospitalization,
surgery, and disability in the United States and affect more
than 65 million Americans.
Disease is preempted by symptoms. Symptoms mean there has been
an underlying imbalance, and are now showing up as a wakeup
call. They have many faces: gas, bloating, belching, heartburn,
cramping, nausea, diarrhea, constipation… Rather than ignoring
them, managing them, or suppressing them, bring them out into
the light and
get to the root cause of digestive upset to eliminate the
symptoms for good!
How would it feel to feed yourself nutrients that are used to
build ultra healthy cells and organs? How would it feel
to have an efficient body that
you don’t have to question 10 times a day? How much
more time and energy would you have
without having to worry about your symptoms? Imagine
not having to ask yourself “will this bother me?” ALL the time.
It’s possible, and it’s a reality, and it happens every
day with my clients!
“You can abuse your body up to age 35. After that… it abuses
you.”
